How awkward mom-friend attempts led to MetroWest's women's community

Can we just be honest for a second? Making friends as an adult in MetroWest is HARD. Like, unreasonably hard.

You moved here (or have lived here forever) and you're stuck in this weird cycle of:

  • Googling "best restaurants MetroWest" and getting the same 5 generic chain recommendations

  • Making polite small talk at pickup/events/Target wondering "Could this person actually become my friend?"

  • Feeling like everyone else has their tight-knit friend group while you're still trying to crack the code

  • Wanting to explore more of what MetroWest offers but not wanting to eat alone... again

The worst part? You KNOW there are amazing women and incredible local spots all around you, but somehow you keep missing each other.

My "Aha" Moment (AKA Rock Bottom)

Hi, I'm Sabrina, and I've lived in MetroWest my whole life. You'd think that would make me the ultimate insider, right? WRONG.

In 2011, I decided I needed to expand my social circle beyond the three people I'd known since high school. So I did what any reasonable woman would do—I went to EVERY women's event I could find. Book clubs, networking meetups, mom groups, wine tastings. You name it, I awkwardly attended it.

After 6 months and countless "We should definitely get coffee sometime!" conversations that never happened, I had an embarrassing realization: I was the woman standing alone at events, checking my phone, and leaving early because I didn't know how to break into established friend groups.

That's when it hit me—if I'm struggling to connect in the area I've lived in my ENTIRE LIFE, what must it be like for everyone else?

What I Decided to Do About It

Instead of giving up and accepting a life of surface-level acquaintances, I decided to create the community I desperately wanted to be part of.

After several years of iterations, I’ve finally settled on this one: Adventures + Lattes.

A place where:

  • You can ask "Anyone know a good restaurant for a girls' night?" and get 15 honest responses in 10 minutes

  • Someone will actually tell you which local businesses are worth your time (and which aren't)

  • You can admit you're struggling with adult friendships without feeling like a complete weirdo

  • Local women support each other instead of competing

  • The small talk gets skipped and the real conversations happen

What You Get When You Follow Along

Local Intel, restaurant reviews, upcoming events, local hidden gems, and the kind of insider knowledge that makes you feel like you finally know what's happening.

Real Friendship Support

Practical advice for making adult friends, navigating social situations, and building the kind of connections that make you hopeful about your social life again.

A Community That Actually Gets It

2,000+ MetroWest women who understand the unique challenges of suburban social life and are genuinely rooting for each other.

Someone Who Makes the First Move

I occasionally organize the meetups, start the conversations, and create opportunities for genuine connections because I remember how hard it is to put yourself out there. And I welcome others to do the same!

The Real Me

When I'm not exploring every corner of MetroWest or trying to bring local women together, you'll find me working on my freelance marketing business (MetroWest Marketing with Sabrina), cooking, doing the school committee stuff, attempting to figure out my new perimenopausal body, and still getting genuinely excited when I discover a new local spot that doesn't disappoint.

Despite having 40+ years of practice, I still overthink every social interaction and wonder if I'm doing this "adult friendship" thing right. But here's what I've learned: most of us are figuring it out together, and it's so much better when we stop pretending we have it all figured out.

Ready to stop feeling like the only person who hasn't cracked the adult social code?

Join our community where local knowledge meets friendship, and where you'll finally find your people AND your places.
